Alan "Gator" Heyde, 63, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Dove Healthcare West, Eau Claire while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

He was born February 7, 1952 in Chippewa Falls to Agnes (Thon) and Lyman Heyde.

Alan served honorably in both the U.S. Marines from June 18, 1970 to June 16, 1972 and the U.S. Army from May 29, 1974 to May 27, 1977.

He worked as a baker for Spring Street Bakery, then worked for the City of Chippewa Falls for 23 years, first as zookeeper at Irvine Park, then in pet control, and finally in maintenance. Following his retirement from the city, he drove for Shared Ride, a job he loved and where he made many friends.

Alan had a passion for racing, whether it was modified tractors, cars, boats or motorcycles, he liked to go fast. He also enjoyed Breakfast Club with the guys, and every Wednesday was reserved for pork steak and sauerkraut dinner at Bresina's with the guys. He had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed singing Willie Nelson songs at karaoke.

Alan is survived by two sisters, Diane (Jim) Heyde-Peterson of Holcombe, Mary Sikora of Cadott; two brothers, Dennis (Linda) Heyde of Eau Claire, David (Coleen Hengst) of Elk Lake; his loving companion and watchdog, Teddy. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews and their families and many cousins, aunts, unclesand many special friends and devoted neighbors who watched over him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, February 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will take place immediately following the funeral service Thursday evening.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m., Thursday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and appreciated.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Alan "Gator" Heyde was held at 6 p.m., Thursday, February 19 a Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated. Following the service military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and John Francis bugled Taps. Interment will be in the spring at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
