Alan was born on February 2, 1949 in Detroit Michican, to Betty (Stanislawski) and Wilfred Lysaght. He graduated from Shrine High in Royal Oak, MI in 1967. He studied at Wayne State University and subsequently in Salamanca, Spain at the University of Salamanca. In Spain, he mastered the language and fell in love with the people and the country. He made many lifelong friends in Spain over the past 40 years.
This love of travel led him to pursue a career as a flight attendant with American Airlines. He flew all over the world for 37 years, while charming his colleagues and the clientele he served. Numerous passengers wrote letters to commend his entertaining care and hospitality in the air. He loved experiencing the many cultures and cuisines, and enjoyed meeting passengers from around the globe.
