Alfred "Al" Audorff, 87, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, September 6, 2015, surrounded by family, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Al, the oldest of the twelve children of Johannes and Flora Audorff, was born on November 24, 1927 in the town of BUTLER, Clark County. He spent his childhood living and working on the family farm. In 1945, he entered the U.S. Army and was in the occupation forces, stationed in Japan, at the end of World War II. After his honorable military discharge in September of 1947, he began his long career in the telephone industry, working largely for GT&E in numerous communities throughout Wisconsin.
On August 21, 1948, Almarried Charlotta Taylor, who died on December 7, 1986. On September 7, 1996, he married Helen Taylor. Al always enjoyed traveling, particularly by RV, genealogy, and extended family gatherings.
Al is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Ardis Cray (Richard Sweeney) of Chippewa Falls, Cathy Audorff of Janesville, and Kevin Audorff of Chippewa Falls; step-children, Karen (Greg) Siege of Osseo, John Taylor (Karen) of Augusta, Linda Leonard of Thorp, Alice (Doug) Zimbauer of Augusta and Pamela Taylor of Eau Claire; grandson, Scott Cray of Minneapolis; brothers, John (Janet) of Westlake Village, CA, Edwin (Maureen) of Tacoma, WA, Cecil (Carol) of Chippewa Falls, Doug of Beaverton, OR; sisters Phoebe (Richard) Lambert of Marana, AZ, Agnes (Ernest) of Cornell, Thelma Chapek of Chippewa Falls, Meta (Paul) Audorff-Rajkowski of Stevens Point; 8 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotta; daughter, Diane Gieseke; grandson, Andrew Cray; step-daughter, Barbara Taylor; and brothers, Everett, Karl, and Chester.
A memorial service will be held at11 a.m., Thursday, September 10 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the chapel.
A privateburial will be at Nora Cemetery, Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
AFTERSERVICE:
A memorial service for Alfred "Al" Audorff, 87, of Chippewa Falls, was held at11 a.m., Thursday, September 10 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided by organist, Judy Brist and soloist, Katie Hall. During the service, personal reflections were shared by Al's brother, Edwin "Dale" Audorff and son-in-law, Rich Sweeney.
Military honors were provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Simon Arneberg bugled Taps.
Interment was at Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake.
