Alfrieda P. Melville, 88, of 18700 30th Ave., Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
She was born September 9, 1923 in the town of Edson, Chippewa County, the daughter of Barbara (Mahal) and John Marion. She was raised in the town of Edson where she attended school.
Alfrieda married Eugene J. Melville Sr. on September 16, 1941 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boyd. She and her husband farmed in the town of Lafayette beginning in 1946.
She was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and the Holy Rosary Alter Society.Survivors include: three sons, Eugene Melville Jr., John (Alvera) Melville, William "Bill" (Barbara) Melville, all of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Tom (Meagan) Melville, Boston, MA, Kristine (Dave) Berger, Hudson, Travis (Megan) Melville, Chippewa Falls, Jennifer (Travis) Schindler of Chippewa Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Madelaine, Henry, Edwin, Shawn, Sierra, Loralei and Andrew; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene on November 20, 1995; four brothers, Norbert, Herbert, John "Jack" Jr. and Donald Marion; three sisters, Agnes West, Theresa Labinski and Delores Waggoner.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 16 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, town of Seymour with Fr. Victor Inbaraj officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral chapel.

A funeral mass for Alfrieda P. Melville, 88, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette was held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 16 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, town of Seymour. Fr. Victor Inbaraj officiated and music was provided by Sister Yvonne Heiss. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Casket bearers were: Wade and Troy Ouimet, Jennifer and Travis Schindler, Joe Bowe and Travis Melville.
Thursday evening Sister Yvonne Heiss led family and friends in a Christian Vigil service at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel.
