Alice L. Vernie Howie, 93, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Dove West Healthcare in Eau Claire.
She was born July 14, 1920 in Bloomer to Alice (Lynn) and John Zenner. She was raised in Chippewa and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High.
Alice married William Howie in 1938. She worked at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls for over 20 years until her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Beth Howie of Mondovi; a son William Bill Howie of Chetek; five grandchildren, Josh (Jamie) Johnholtz of Redwing, MN, Laura (Brendan) Osborne of Eau Claire, Malinda (Ryan) Hebert of Eau Claire, Vicki (Jeff) Blomberg of Chetek, Gordon (Kris) Howie of Eleva; 12 great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Cameron Johnholtz, Bodhi and Vivian Osborne, Seth, Grace and Hannah Kreibich, Noah Hebert, Jane and Ann Blomberg, Liam and Anabel Howie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William in November 1976; and a daughter-in-law, Doreen Howie.
Alice was an amazing woman who led an adventurous life. She will be remembered with love, joy, and laughter. She will be missed every day.
A private family service was held. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
