Allard L. Peck passed away at his residence in the village of Lake Hallie on Monday, August 25, 2014, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice, at the age of 86.
He was born to Forest and Geelka (Reeverts) Peck on July 28, 1928 in the town of Hallie. He attended schools in the town of Hallie and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1945.
He married Carol Cripe 61 years ago. They took over the family farm from his father. They continued to improve and expand the farm through the years. Two sons continue to operate Peck Farms.
Allard was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. He served on many committees of the church.
Allard had many interests in public service. He served in a leadership position or member of many groups. He was a Hallie 4-H dairy leader, on the Hallie Parks and Planning Committee, Farm Technology Days, Chippewa Area Chamber of Commerce, Dairy Herd improvement Association, Chippewa County Committeeman for Stabilization and Conservation Service, Chippewa Valley Equity Shipping Association, 21st Century Genetics, member of Wisconsin Master Famers, Land O'Lakes and River Country Co-op, Wisconsin Federation of Co-ops and many more. He also participated in several National Farmers Union conventions. He continued with dairy promotions with the American Dairy Association, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and National Dairy Promotion and Research Board, which took him to many states for cheese promotion.
Several school groups were hosted at the farm as well as Alice in Dairyland. Dairy cattle were exported to Puerto Rico from the Peck herd. Allard saw his cows wading in the ocean, while on a National Convention. Allard was honored to host Bill and Hillary Clinton and Al and Tipper Gore with about 2000 guests at the farm in 1992 on a presidential campaign stop. He also attended the inauguration at Washington, D.C.
Allard always enjoyed family and friends and greeted them with a smile and sense of humor. He enjoyed the family fishing trips to Canada and the cottage. In his younger days he enjoyed basketball and dancing. He also enjoyed watching T.V. sports. After the chores were done, he enjoyed bowling on or two teams in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; five children, Roger (Shirley) Peck of Cadott, Randal (Cathy) Peck, Bruce Peck, Julie (Paul Hutson) Peck and Bradley Peck all of Chippewa Falls; 14 grandchildren, Shelley, Sarah, Tim, Nathan, Melissa, Scott, Lori, Jeff, Kelly, Joshua, Jordan, Samantha, Amber and Angel; ten great-grandchildren, Grace, Amanda, Emily, Ben, Hailey, Cailyn, Claire, Franklin, Evan and Bryce, and the family continues to growwith many step-grand and great-grandchildren joining the family and new babies on the way. He also survived by brother, Leonard (Jean) Peck of Chippewa Falls; sister, Joyce Soholt of Spooner; sister-in-law, Arlene Peck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, G. Richard, Howard and Willard Peck; two sisters-in-law, Helen M. Peck and Helen S. Peck; nephews, Harold Peck and Forest Peck and niece, Peggy Sonsalla.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 30 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
AFTERSERVICE
A celebration of life for Allard L. Peck, 86, of Chippewa Falls was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 30 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Terri Koca officiated and music was provided by organist, Judy Brist and vocalists, Carl Cronquest and Allan Peterson. Personal reflections were shared by grandchildren, Shelley Peirson, Sarah and Jeff Peck; nephew, Mark Peck and friend, Wayne Danielson. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Casket bearers were grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Krista, Nathan, Tim, Jeff and Angel Peck.
