Alma Smith

Alma Jane "Smitty" Smith, 85, of 20437 County Hwy X, Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at home.

She was born September 19, 1924 in Chippewa Falls the daughter of Josephine (Calkins) and Edwin Sweitzer. She was raised in Chippewa Falls where she attended Chippewa Falls schools.

Alma married Cecil L. Smith on June 8, 1946 in Stillwater, Minn. They resided in Chippewa Falls until moving to the town of Lafayette in 1960 where she has since resided.

She was employed at the Northern Center as an Aid for over 30 years until her retirement.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Darrell) Friedel of Cadott; two sons, David (Lynnann) Smith of Luxemburg, Wis., John (Claire) Smith of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Delores Dietzler of Richfield, Minn., Colleen (Dale) Schmidt of Oakdale, Wis.; one brother, Phillip "Buck" (Geraldine) Sweitzer of Chippewa Falls; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil on December 17, 1991; one sister, Juanita Smith and one great-grandson, Justin.

In honor of Alma's request there will be no formal services.
