SERVICE WITH MILITARY HONORS:
10 A.M., Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner
Alton D. Peters, 69, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his home.
He was born December 30, 1946 in Alexandria, MN to Clara Paolucci and Alton D. Peters.
He grew up in Sauk Village, IL and graduated from Bloom High School in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
Alton married Carol Sliwinski and together they had two children. They later divorced after 23 years of marriage.
Alton worked as a union steelworker but most recently, worked in security at the Veterans Residence in Chippewa Falls.
Alton had many struggles due to his service in Vietnam and did not talk much about his experiences and injuries he received, but he was very proud of his service and wore his Vietnam Veteran baseball cap with pride. His Catholic faith ran very deep even though he did not talk about it. He was very proud of his children and all of his grandchildren and loved all of his family. He never missed a Sunday evening phone call to his sister Charlene in Georgia. His family will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Dennis) Pawlak of Eau Claire; his son, Donald (Marjorie) Peters of South Holland, IL; a sister, Charlene (Evan) Bellville of Rising Fawn, GA; a brother, John (Linda) Peters of Crete, IL; Step father, Robert Sisk of Winchester, TN; Step brothers, William Sisk of Rensselear, IN, Bobby(Becky) Sisk of Momence, IL; Step-sister, Deborah (Jerry) Mc Creary of Winchester, TN; six grandchildren, Brendon, Kerigan and Ethan Pawlak, David, Donald Jr. and Carly Peters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-sister, Theresa Sisk.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 13 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
