Arden L. Pederson, 84, of Eau Claire, formerly of New Auburn, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Mount Washington Residence in Eau Claire.

He was born June 9, 1927 in New Auburn to Rita Susan (Loofboro) and Ivar Pederson. He grew up in New Auburn, graduating from high school in 1946. Arden was a lifelong resident of New Auburn and worked at various businesses throughout his life. After high school, he worked as hired hand at a local farm; then at Jack's Feed Service; he drove school bus for many years; worked at Dolly Madison Dairy in Eau Claire; a canning factory in Bloomer; worked in maintenance for the Village of New Auburn; and finally retired from working maintenance for the City of Bloomer.

Arden enjoyed doing puzzles, both crossword and jigsaw. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and took many fishing trips to Canada. His gentle, patient and kindhearted spirit was evident, especially when spending cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For the past four years, Arden has been a resident of Mount Washington Residence, where he was a willing participant in all activities there. He had a positive outlook and made friends wherever he would go. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Lynn (Gary) Dorn of Eau Claire, Patti Jo (Jeff) Swanson of Downsville; three sons, Brian (Rhonda) Pederson of Cadott, Russell (Evelyn) Miller of New Auburn, Jeff Miller of Fall Creek; a sister, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Pederson of California; a daughter-in-law, Portia Pederson of Dallas, WI; two brothers, Clayton Pederson of New Auburn, David (Grace) Pederson of Buffalo, MN; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Scott Pederson; three brothers, Victor, Paul and Loyal Pederson; and two sisters, Jane Downing and Helen Roth.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 14 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Wayne North of Seventh Day Baptist Church, New Auburn, officiating. Interment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral chapel.

AFTERSERVICE

A memorial service for Arden L. Pederson, 84, of Eau Claire was held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Wayne North of Seventh Day Baptist Church in New Auburn officiated. Several family members and friends shared personal reflections during the service. Interment was in New Auburn Cemetery
