Audrey D. Allen, 69, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2024, surrounded by family while under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
She was born April 20, 1955, in Gloucester, MA to Kenneth and Frances (Wilkins) Allen. She graduated from Gloucester High School with the class of 1973.
Audrey was a self-proclaimed “Jill of all trades” and held numerous positions in her lifetime. The most notable were a seamstress and a school bus driver. When Audrey and her children relocated to Wisconsin, she added all things farming to her repertoire. Audrey had an undying work ethic and instilled this trait in her children.
Music, art, and cooking were significant passions of Audrey's. She had an amazing singing voice, a keen eye for photography, was an expert in many hand-made crafts, and was a culinary wonder. At the core of these talents was always a touch of magic and infectious childlike wonder. All of which, she readily shared with anyone who got close to her. Audrey also enjoyed researching family genealogy, hiking in nature, gardening, and rock collecting. She found her true passion when she became a grandmother. Audrey spent the majority of her retirement attending numerous sporting events and became a surrogate grandmother to many of her grandchildren’s friends.
Audrey was known for her stubborn Yankee spirit. She successfully battled two bouts of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and enjoyed several years cancer free. Earlier this year when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer, she was determined to fight with everything she had. She kept high spirits through all of her treatments and didn’t back down. She was determined to keep making memories with her grandchildren. Even in her darkest hours, she brought them comfort and reassured them she’d come back as an owl to always look after them.
Audrey is survived by her son, Nathan (Ariel) Rich of Orlando, Florida; her daughter, Cyrena (Bradley) Black of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Koller Rich, Zack, Zane, and Zoey Black; siblings, Mark Allen, Kimberly Hintz, and Garth Allen; nieces, Jennifer Allen, April Allen, Megan Allen, Olivia Hintz and Kayla Allen; nephew, Kyle Allen; and beloved family members Lou Meyers, Matthew Rich and Hattie Mae Rich.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Frances Allen; her niece Melissa Allen; former spouse David Rich; and sister-in-law Debbie Allen.
In honor of Audrey’s wishes, no services will be held. Her family will celebrate her life by scattering her ashes while enjoying the places and activities she loved.
