Barbara A. Meredith, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Chippewa Manor.
She was born in Waupun, WI to Willis and Myra (Barnsdale) Brooks. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. Barb was a graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, WI where she met her future husband and best friend, Robert Meredith.
Barb and Bob were married on June 23, 1956, at First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years, which took their family to many places in the United States.
After retiring, they moved to Chippewa Falls in 1985 and settled into their home on Lake Wissota.
Barbara was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls. She volunteered for many years in the Grief Support Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also volunteered at The Cook Rutledge Mansion. In 1978 Barbara was awarded the Clara Barton Medallion, the highest Red Cross award given, for her service to the Peterson AFB Clinic in Colorado Springs as Chairman of Volunteers.
Barb is survived by her three children, Robert Jr. (Linda) of Colorado Springs, CO, Richard (Pam) of Elk Mound, WI, and Pamela (John) Oakes of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Brooke (Tom) Chmielewski, Carly, Lakken, and Kameri Meredith; and Meredith, Maggie, and Matthew Oakes; great-grandchildren, Ford and Cooper Chmielewski; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, in 2010; and brother, Richard Brooks.
Many people have reached out expressing their condolences, describing mom as intelligent, curious, strong, caring, welcoming, spunky, and one of a kind. She touched many lives and will be missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, JULY 12 at First Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Ed William officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Falls.
