Bernhard H. J. Prahl, 89, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014 surrounded by his family at Deerwood Group Home in the town of Seymour.
He was born June 6, 1925 in Boyd to Ernestina (Haag) and Ben Prahl. He graduated from Boyd High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably during WWII.
He drove truck for Chandler-Wilbert Vault Company in Chippewa Falls until his retirement.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Aaron Sturgis of Central Lutheran Church officiating.
Military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will immediately follow the service at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be at a later date at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Edson, Chippewa County.
A special thank you to the staff and residents at Deerwood for making Bernhard a part of their family.

A memorial service for Bernhard H.J. Prahl, 89, was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Aaron Sturgis of Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls officiated. Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
