BetteM. Lanners, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls surrounded by her family.
She was born May 21, 1926 in Chippewa Falls to Jenny (Gregg) and George Cardinal. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
Following high school, she worked at the A & P Store, where she met her future husband, Gene Lanners. On April 18, 1948, the two were united in marriage in Chippewa Falls.
They resided in Chippewa Falls where Bette worked at the Northern Center as the food service supervisor, retiring from there in 1986.
Being around family was the highlight of Bette's life. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to attend their activities and sporting events. She was a great cook and enjoyed making meals for family gatherings. She also enjoyed gardening.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years, Gene; daughters, Connie (Mike) Murphy of Chippewa Falls, Marcia (Larry) Larson of Hudson; a brother, Gene Cardinal of Whitewater; grandchildren, Coley (Margaret) Murphy of Chippewa Falls, Stacey Murphy of Whitefish Bay, Sarah and Keri Knorn of Hudson; great-grandchildren, Logan and Sydney Murphy, Jordan Kalbrier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jane Fransway, Katherine Goss; five brothers; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Cardinal. She is also preceded by several beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bette's life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's honor may go to the Chippewa Youth Hockey Association or to Irvine Park.
AFTERSERVICE
A celebration of life for Bette M. Lanners was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and the eulogy was given by Bette's niece Jennifer Armstrong. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
