Bette Jean Roberts, 80, of Chippewa Falls, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Happy Hearts Assisted Living Home in Holcombe.
She was born June 10, 1936 in Wausau to Lenore (Schwab) and Wayne Greenlee. She grew up in Bloomer and graduated from Bloomer High School, class of 1954.
Bette continued her education at the UW-EC, earning a B.S. in Education and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from UW-RF. She was an elementary school teacher in Escanaba, Michigan for many years. She then worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Health and Human Services Dept. for several years, where Bette met her husband Royal Roberts.
In 1995, she moved to Chippewa Falls where she continued substitute teaching in the area.
Bette was a talented artist and enjoyed painting. She was also a "hockey mom" to her son Royce, from the time he was little all the way through high school and beyond, she was there to get him to practices and games, and to cheer him on from the bleachers.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Royce Roberts of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Janice Lee of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Marianna Greenlee of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royal; and two brothers, Tom and Jerry Greenlee.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 2 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer with Fr. John Potaczek officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Bloomer.
