Betty L. Cigan, 89, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Chippewa Manor.

She was born August 14, 1926 in Illinois to Stella (Dye) and John Baumgartner.

On July 21, 1945, Betty married Peter Cigan. They resided in Gilman, Crescent, Jim Falls and finally settled in Chippewa Falls where Betty raised their eight children and made their home. In addition to cooking and baking for her own family, she enjoyed cooking for Peter's hired men at Cigan's Wissota Badger Sales.

She will be dearly missed by two daughters, Martha "Marty" (Rod) Raatz of Jim Falls, Mary Denning of Chippewa Falls; four sons, Mike (Linda), William, Nick (Jackie), and Greg Cigan, all of Chippewa Falls; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one great-great on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Wasil and Tillie Cigan; her husband, Peter Cigan; three sisters, Bertha, May and Kay; six brothers, Walter, Wallace, James, John, George and Morris; a daughter, Marie Yeager; a son, George Cigan; and two grandchildren, Jason Denning and Cary Cigan.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, May 13 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Private interment will be held at St. John's Orthodox Cemetery in the town of Huron.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
