Betty Jean Flint, 71, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 after a brief illness at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born April 3, 1943 in Dearborn, Michigan to Helen (King) and Byron Baldwin. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1961.

She served in the US Navy from October 1962 until her honorable discharge in July 1964. She met the love of her life, Donald Flint while serving in the military. They married on July 17, 1965 in Virginia. They resided in Bloomer where Betty worked as a nursing assistant at Hetzel's Care Center and then worked as a surgical technician at the Bloomer Hospital for over 30 years. Once retired, the couple moved to Ironwood, MI where they enjoyed life on Lake Superior. Donald preceded her in death on July 16, 2011 and Betty moved to Eau Claire to be near family.

In Betty's younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding, square dancing, 4H Club, and leading her children's Cub Scouts troop. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing on Lake Superior, volunteering at Copper Peak and running the gift shop there.

While living in Eau Claire with her son, Erick and daughter-in-law, Michelle, she faithfully attended Landmark Christian Church in Chippewa Falls. A natural helper and caregiver, Betty recovered throughAA and then became a sponsor to many, helping them into recovery. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Edward (Cindy) Flint of Menomonie, Donna (Kris) Flint of Burke, Virginia, Erick (Michelle) Flint of Eau Claire; two brothers, Byron Baldwin, Jay (Sherley) Baldwin; three sisters, Jackie Marsh, Barbara (Bob) Pullano, Helen (Jim) Edwards; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step- father, Claude Wise; her husband, Donald; a brother, Harold; a sister-in-law, Judy Baldwin and a brother-in-law, Carl Marsh.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 3 Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Brad Crocker officiating. Immediately following the service, military honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. Interment will be at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m., Friday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Landmark Christian Church are appreciated.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Betty Jean Flint was held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 3 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Brad Crocker of Landmark Christian Church, Chippewa Falls officiated. The obituary was read by son Edward Flint and daughter-in-law Michelle Flint recited a poem. Following the service, military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Taps were bugled by Nicole Johnson. Interment will be at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
