Betty R. Olsen, 86, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born September 25, 1927 in Sparta to Ruth (Perry) and Lloyd Jewett. She was raised in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1946.
Betty married Wallace Duke Olsen on May 24, 1946 in Stillwater, MN.
She managed Hamms Cheese House in Hallie for six years. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards at the Senior Center in Chippewa Falls, where she made many friends.
In addition to raising her own children, Betty also raised her brother Darrells children, Sally and Darrell Jr.Buster Jewett as her own.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Tim) Dumholt of Chippewa Falls, Sandra (Jim) Gales of Ft. Myers, Florida, Sally (Jack) Purvis; sons, Don (Peggy) Olsen of Eau Claire, Darrell Jr. Buster Jewett of Denver, CO; a sister, Ruth Ann Jewett of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Josette Jewett of Burbank, CA; seven grandchildren, Kasie (Nate Risberg) Culp, Kimberly (Adam) Sarauer, Bryan (Sara) Olsen, Dane Olsen, Tyler (Laura) Gales, Courtney(Jason) Miller and Kelsey (Bryan) Bard; five great-grandchildren, Kaeden Dumholt, Nevada Guse, Ethan and Lauren Sarauer, and John Olsen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wallace on November 11, 2002 and two brothers, William Billy and Darrell Jewett.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 17 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Spring interment will be held at Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for Betty R. Olsen, 86, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 17 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided by organist, Marilyn Brace and soloist, Katie Hall. Personal reflections were shared by Bettys daughter, Sharon Dumholt and a poem was read by Rev. Hoekstra which was written by granddaughter, Courtney Miller. Spring interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
