SERVICE

A private family service was held.

Carol J. Meyer, 72 of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

She was born June 25, 1942 in Volga, Iowa to Cecelia (Krause) and Edward Carroll. She graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

On May 7, 1960, Carol married Stan Hayes in Cedar Rapids, IA. They moved to Chippewa Falls and together had five children. The couple later divorced.

In 1983, she married Art Meyer. Art also had two children and Carol loved them as her own. They resided in Chippewa Falls where Carol worked as secretary for the Chippewa Falls School District for 35 years until her retirement.

Carol enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing dice and card games, going to garage sales, traveling with her sisters, and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends . She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Pam (Don) Houghton of Eagan, MN, Cindy (Vern) Freeman, Greg, Jim, Gary, Kelly, and Scott Hayes, all of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Ruth Niemeier of Walker, IA, Mary Decker of Cedar Rapids, IA; sisters-in-law, Patty Carroll of Elberon, LaDonna " Jean" Carroll of Cedar Rapids, IA ; grandchildren, Aaron Freeman, Courtney (Brad) Miller, Isaac (Lindsay ) Freeman, Chloe Freeman, Katlin (Alex) Geiser, Chad (Heidi) Houghton, Dustin (Kayla) Hayes, Kyle, Lucas, Josh and Kristie Hayes; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art; a sister, Jean Carroll; brothers, Pat and Mike Carroll; a sister-in-law, Joann "Dodo" Meyer; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Niemeier and Earl Decker.

The family gives a special thank you to her dear friend Dorothy Roder, who visited her daily, and the employees at the Chippewa Manor for their special care.

A private family service was held with Father Bob Hoekstra officiating.
