Carol J. Tichey

Carol Jean (Kaiser) Tichey, 89, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at VitaCare Assisted Living in Bloomer, WI, on Saturday, September 2.

On October 23, 1933, Carol was born to Roy and Dorothy (Mitchell) Kaiser in Chippewa Falls. She attended Notre Dame – McDonell Memorial High School, graduating on June 1, 1951. Carol later graduated from the Rochester School of Vocational Nursing on January 6, 1954, receiving her Nursing License on February 8, 1954.

Carol was united in marriage to Joseph G. Tichey, Jr., on April 7, 1956, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Carol was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she worked and volunteered for many years.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Jody Balow, Cathy Turner, of Chippewa Falls, Mary Jo (Dave) Mayer of Eau Claire and Sue Tichey of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Brooke Balow, Amanda Balow of Altoona, Joe Miller and Matthew Yalongo of Colorado Springs; along with many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Interim Hospice and VitaCare Assisted Living for all their compassionate care given to Carol.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 117 Allen St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. Fr. Jesse Burish will be officiating. The interment will be in Hope Catholic Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
