Carol Ann Holbrook Waak, 79, of Chippewa Falls, Village of Lake Hallie, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire.

She was born October 1, 1936 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Wilma (Kinderman) and Lyle Holbrook. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1954.

On June 18, 1955, Carol married Roger H. Waak in Eau Claire. They resided in Racine County for most of their marriage where Carol raised their son and made their home. They returned to Chippewa Falls in 1993.

Carol had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed Hardanger, traditional Norwegian embroidery; crocheting; travel, especially cruising; and playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her family at their cabin on Spooner Lake.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Roger of Chippewa Falls; son, Steve (Kim) Waak of Spooner; sister, Alice (Jim) Holbrook-Meyer of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law, Eileen (George) Sturgis of Eau Claire; grandsons, Ryan (Sarah Meier) of Menomonie, Kevin (Darcy Kothlow) of Knapp; great-grandson, Brady Waak; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Lyle Holbrook; and in-laws, Henry and Mildred Waak.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Larry Sturgis of First Lutheran Church of Exeland, officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in the town of Washington, Eau Claire County.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
