Carole L. Mickesh, 75, of Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her home while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

She was born June 6, 1938 in Chicago the daughter of Betty (Hagen) and Durand Burton. She was raised in Bloomer and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1956. She moved to Wausau where she was employed as a nurse's aide.

Carole married Dennis Mickesh on December 26, 1962 in Eau Claire. They resided in Eau Claire for eight years until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1972. Carole then worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's surveying business, Indianhead Surveying and then as a membership coordinator at the Wisconsin Farmer's Union Office in Chippewa Falls.

Carole was instrumental in starting the YMCA in Chippewa Falls. She was a board member on the first YMCA Board of Directors. She served as Vice-President of the fund raising committee to raise funds to build the present YMCA.

Carole was an excellent golfer and was the club champion of the Elks Club in 1984. She had an opportunity to play in the Ladies Professional Golf Association Pro-Am in 1994 in Minnesota.

Carole enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards with her dear friends.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; two daughters, Cindy Chapman (Gary) Yohnk of Chippewa Falls, June Chapman (Jim) Wieg of Fall Creek; two sons, John (Jolee) Mickesh of Chippewa Falls, James (Kjirsten) Mickesh of Chanhassen, MN; two sisters, Diane (Arnold) Ruff, Linda (Kenny) Zweifelhofer all of Bloomer; a brother, Bruce (Barbara) Burton of Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda) Yohnk of Eagle, WI, Katie (Adam) Novotny of St. Paul, MN, Tyler Mickesh of Madison, Miranda Wieg of Boyd, Grant Mickesh of Madison, Taylor Mickesh and Jeremy Mickesh both of Chanhassen, MN; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Burton.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 15 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiating. Interment will be a later date.

Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A celebration of life for Carole L. Mickesh, 75, of Tilden was held at 1p.m., Friday, November 15 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiated and music was provided by organist, Barbara Sandford and vocalists, Amanda Tanzer and Dave Anderson. Communion was distributed by grandsons, Grant, Tyler, Taylor and Jeremy Mickesh. Interment will be at a later date in South Catholic Cemetery, Bloomer.
