Carolyn Burgess

Carolyn A. “Sis” Burgess, 82, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Rutledge Home while under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

She was born September 9, 1935, in Chippewa Falls to William and Loretta (Libke) Klemke. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.

Carolyn married Melvin “Buzz” Burgess and they resided in the village of Lake Hallie. She drove school bus for many years for the Chippewa Falls school district. In her free time she loved fishing, putting together puzzles, catalog shopping, and her cat, Tina.

She is survived by her son, John (Julie) Burgess of Bloomer; grandchildren, Ben (Adrian) Burgess, Andrew (Maria) Stewart, Adam, Molly, Maggie and Jeramie Burgess; great-grandchildren, Bella, Chase, Riley, Gabe, Evelynn, Tucker, Rian, Stewie, Julianna and Hannah; brothers, William Klemke of Chippewa Falls and John (Dee) Klemke of Iowa; daughter-in-law, Jayne Burgess of Chippewa Falls; and many other relatives and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jim Burgess; infant daughter, Karen Burgess; and grandchildren, Joe and Wendy Burgess.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 11 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, 531 E. South Ave., Chippewa Falls with Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiating.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
