He entered the U.S. Army in January 22, 1943 and serving in the European Theatre during WWII, being honorably discharged in December 8, 1945.
Chuck married Dorothy Marie Sarter on January 19, 1946 in Kewanee, Wis. After their marriage, they resided in Sturgeon Bay before moving to Chippewa Falls in 1950, where he was employed for the Chippewa Herald Telegram as a typesetter. In 1961, he became employed in the advertising/sales dept. at the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram. He helped in the creation of the Country Today, where he was general manager until he retired in 1987. After retirement, he worked at Western Auto Auction in Hallie until December 2009. Chuck served as the town chairman for the town of Hallie for six years.
