Clay F. Whitcome, 60, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1952, in Chippewa Falls, to Marjorie F. (Senior) and Roy L. Whitcome. He attended 9th Ward Grade School and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1970. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on Feb. 10, 1971 and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas; San Angelo, Texas; Spain; and the Caribbean. He worked in Cryptological Science and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E-4 on June 5, 1974.

Following his discharge, he was employed for four years as an agent for Mid-States Airline in Eau Claire and then as an agent for North Central/Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis from 1979 to 1986. He then worked for the U. S. Post Office in Minneapolis from 1986-1998, retiring due to ill health.

Survivors include: two sisters, Pamela (Bob) Bleskachek of Elk Mound, Susan (Kevin) Looby of Hopkins, Minn.; three brothers, Marshall (Bonnie) Whitcome of Bruce, Arlan Whitcome of Chippewa Falls, Gary Whitcome of Naples, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Clay was grateful to be a friend of Bill W.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Marjorie Wingad; his father, Roy Whitcome; and a sister-in-law, Linda Whitcome.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 12 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, with Fr. George Stamm officiating. Immediately following the service, military honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Patriotic Council. Burial will be at a later date in Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Clay's family would like to thank the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital for their exceptional care. The compassion and kindness was greatly appreciated during this difficult time.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Clay F. Whitcome, 60, of Eau Claire, was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 12 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Fr. George Stamm officiated and music was provided by Judy Brist. Interment will be at a later date in Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.
