Clayton "Rusty" Felton, 76, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Fall Creek, died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Dove Healthcare-Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.
Clayton Eugene Felton was born March 1, 1940 in Eau Claire to Vinetta (Coach) and Luman Felton. He lived with his parents in the town of Brunswick until their death. He then lived in a foster home until the age of 18. Clayton attended vocational school for welding. He worked at a candy factory on Grand Ave. in Eau Claire, Peter's Meats, Zutters Elevators and went to full time farming in the town of Tilden until he retired in 2000.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard as was activated during the Berlin Crisis, from October 15, 1961 until August 10, 1962, serving with the Red Arrow Army Reserve at Ft. Lewis, Washington, near Tacoma.
He enjoyed John Deere toy tractors, feeding and watching birds, getting outside, visiting, watching sports on TV and playing checkers with Adam at the Dove Healthcare-Rutledge Home. Clayton would be described as a kind, honest, caring, and hardworking man.
His favorite snack was Cheetos and his favorite word was fantastic.
He is survived by two nieces, Sally (Jim) Smasal of Rockford, Minn. and Linda (Mike) Ohm of Beach Park, Ill.; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Dale; an infant sister, Helen and an infant brother, Howard.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Sally Smasal will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wis.
