Our nation lost another World War II veteran on April 1, 2016. Clyde Edmond Pederson, passed away at Milestone Senior Living surrounded by his loving family.
Clyde was born on September 3, 1926 in Chippewa Falls, WI. He was the son of Edler and Mathilda (Rasmussen) Pederson. Clyde graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1944. Following graduation, Clyde served Honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines as an aide to General Douglas McArthur.
Clyde returned to Chippewa Falls and for several years was employed by the United States Postal Service. During that time he married Bethel Pierce who preceded him in death. He retired as an Assistant Postmaster in 1982. He married Eileen Novak (Bata) in 1983.
Clyde was a longtime member of the Chippewa Falls School Board, an active member of the Chippewa Falls VFW, American Legion and Masonic Temple. He was active in local sports, having played baseball with the Tilden Tigers and softball for Falls Bowl. He was a member of several bowling league championships. In addition, he was an avid golfer and loved to watch Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers games. He never missed an opportunity to play video poker with his gambling partner, Eileen. Often they drove to the Riviera, their favorite casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, even up to the age of 86.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Jeffrey Pederson, Linda (Wayne) Honer, Heidi Siverling (Travis Brazeau), William (Debi) Fauber and Debbie Fauber; grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Siverling, Michael Fauber and LeAnn (Matt) Graver; and great-grandchildren, Xavian, Venyk and Nova Graver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gerald; and his first wife, Bethel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospital Hospice Program for all the care and support provided to Clyde and his family. They would also like to thank the Milestone Senior Living caregivers for their devotion and kindness to Clyde.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. followed by Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
