Collette E. Halford, 71, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
She was born August 7, 1944 in Webster, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Coyla Anderson. Collette attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD majoring in elementary education. She took a year off from college with a friend to work as governesses in a Lutheran Deaconess' School for girls in Neuendettelsau Bavaria Germany.
Collette moved to Roseville, MN and worked in the Anoka Hennepin School District for 11 years. Collette married Robert Halford on January 1, 1978 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Roseville, MN. Bob worked for Control Data Corporation in Arden Hills during this time. After marriage they moved to Chippewa Falls, WI where Collette worked for the Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire School districts and Bob worked for Cray Research Inc.Collette loved raising her two children, Alexa and Karl, and providing them with many extra opportunities including figure skating for Alexa and many sports for Karl. Collette, Bob and family enjoyed sailing on Lake Superior. Collette was deeply involved with the church, many volunteer positions, and hobbies. Recently Karl's two young sons, Kamden and Brogan became her top priority.
Collette is survived by her husband, Robert of Chippewa Falls;her daughter, Alexa Halford (fiance Seth Rittenhouse) of Annapolis MD; her son, Karl (Cindy) Halford and their sons, Kamden and Brogan of Coleman, WI;her mother, Coyla Anderson of Madison, WI;her sister, Karen (Peter) Tegen of Poynette, WI; her sister-in-law, Betty (Jay) Mitchell;and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles, in 1957.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 6 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1300 Mansfield St., Chippewa Falls with Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiating.
A gatherine will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Sunday at church.
