Corrine Ellen (Voegeli) Dyhr (nicknamed "Rene"), 79, born July 16th, 1937 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, went home on May 16th, 2017.

She was raised in Hallie, Wisconsin, attended Gower grade school, Chippewa Falls High School, and earned her teaching degree at UWEC. Later she also earned her master's degree in education from the UW-Milwaukee.

Renebegan her teaching career (6th grade) in Oshkosh and soon after moved to the Milwaukee (Brown Deer) area and finally taught in the Racine school system until age 54 when her Multiple Sclerosis forced her to retire.She always referred to her students as her "kids".

She pursued many passions, and always lived life to its fullest, never missing a chance to create or have fun. Sports cars were one passion. She attended stock car races, loved CB radios and frequently drove in car rallies. Traveling was another passion. She visited Europe, Hawaii (with mother, Louise), the Jersey Coast, California (with oldest sister, Anita), Florida, the Virgin Islands and more. Elvis and jazz were her ultimate favorites, along with Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Paul Anka. In her younger days she played piano and sang. For a period of time when Corrine would come home every summer when school was out, she'd earn a little extra money by performing stenography for local courts and had such a stenograph at home. She also enjoyed poetry, particularly Rod McKuen.

Later in life she was married to Dennis Dyhr who shared her love for many things including car rallies, CB radios, jazz, art and kitties ("Squeaky" and "Lyric") until they parted ways. Both had a great love for kitties, nurturing one to the age of 23 ("Squeaky"). We can't forget her last kitty "Puddin' Girl" that she had in her apartment before moving to Wissota Health Center. There were no children.

She was a staunch supporter of the Republican Party, especially Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

She was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. In her earlier days she cheered on the Milwaukee Braves. She was very happy to see the Cubs finally win the World Series.

Rene's family, friends, neighbors and students will remember her fondly by her outgoing personality, her cheerfulness and friendliness, her ability to speak well and promote that which she strongly believed in, to bring her ideas to completion, to express herself joyously and constructively, by her frankness, her methodical thinking, by her belief in law, system and order, by her fun-loving attitude, and most importantly by her capacity to be her own person to have things done in her way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Louise Voegeli of Chippewa Falls; one sister and brother-in-law, Bette (Marshal) Wender of Minneapolis, MN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by two sisters, Anita (Dr. Gene) Cartwright of Eau Claire, and Evie (Mark) Warns of Eau Claire; one brother, Doug (Karen Roche) Voegeli of Lake Elmo, MN; several nieces and nephews, Genita Cartwright of Eau Claire, Dr. Mont Cartwright of Orlando, FL, Doug Warns of Eau Claire, Marsha (Peter) Trost of Seattle, WA, Ted Wender of Golden Valley, MN, Beverly (Nadim) Abi-Antoun of Chicago, IL, Nettie Warner of Stillwater, MN,Teri (Rob) Berthiaume of St. Paul, MN, Angie (Dan) Evans of St. Paul, MN. Corrine also had several great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Dr. Karel Hanhart officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
