D. Joy Jurgensen, 68, of 1425 Perry St., Chippewa Falls, died unexpectedly Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

She was born April 3, 1943 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Antonia (Belak) and Harvey Jurgensen Sr. She was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School. She continued her education at Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus in Wauwatosa for four years.

Joy then moved to Superior, where she owned and operated Chaffey Nursing Home for many years. She then owned a transport company for ambulatory care patients and was employed at a medical clinic in Duluth, Minn.

In 2004, Joy moved to Chippewa Falls, where she worked at the Rutledge Home and volunteered her time at the Romeis Apts.

She is survived by her father, Harvey Sr.; a cousin, Kathy (Dick) Kayser of Milwaukee; her dear friend, Rosella DeGroote of Elk River, Minn.; and many other wonderful friends.

Joy was predeceased by her mother, Antonia; and her brother, Harvey Jurgensen Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 18 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Ed Shuttleworth, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, town of Highland, Douglas County.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Monday, October 17 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one-half hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. A prayer vigil led by Deacon Tom Kinnick will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral chapel.

Afterservice

A funeral mass for D. Joy Jurgensen, 68, Chippewa Falls, was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 18 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Music was provided by Jerry Boorsma and the St. Charles Choir.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, town of Highland, Douglas County. Deacon Tom Kinnick led family and friends in a prayer vigil Monday evening at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel.
