Dachel, Barbara

Barbara J. Dachel, age 80 of Eagle Point, Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Thursday, October 1, 2015.

Barb was born to George and Esther (Larson) Harck in Chippewa Falls, WI, on June 20, 1935. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School with the class of 1953. She married Dr. Don Dachel at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Jim Falls on June 2, 1956.

Barb was a lifelong homemaker and community volunteer, a lifelong learner, and an avid book lover. Through the years, Barb volunteered at Central Lutheran Church, Literacy Volunteers of America, and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed many games of scrabble and dice with her grandkids, and was a great spelling and grammar checker.

Barb is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don; children, Julie Dachel of Chippewa Falls, David (Nancy) Dachel of Cornell, Anne (Randy) Risen of Eau Claire, and Jenny (Mike) Weiss of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Sydney Jane Risen, Jack Risen, Steven Weiss and Eli Weiss; sisters, Jeannine Willi of Bloomer and Myrna (Bob) Garnett of Friendship, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois (Ray) Harling; and brother-in-law, Reid Willi.

It was Barb's wish to have a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, 404 1/2 N. Bridge Street, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
