David A. Peterson, 73, a resident of Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center, answered Gods call to come home on Monday, March 3, 2014. His ascension was witnessed by his two sons.
David was born January 27, 1941 in Colfax to Lawrence and Ruth (Olson) Peterson.
He was a military retiree. He proudly served in both the Navy and Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star metal for his actions during the Vietnam War, several Army commendation medals, Vietnam Service metal and numerous other metals and citations.
He is survived by two sons, David D. Peterson of Altoona, Richard Peterson of Eau Claire; five sisters, Dorothy Anderson of Stanley, Lorraine Bjork, Joyce Sparks and Bonnie Gunther all of Chippewa Falls and Nona (Terry) Rubenzer of Land O Lakes, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Kathy (Peterson) Wolford; sister, June Beecher; brother, Daniel Peterson; step-father, Ezra Boettcher; brothers-in-law, Charles Anderson and James Bjork.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wissota Health for the many years of kindness, phenomenal care and unyielding compassion. David considered all of the staff to be his extended family during his 13 year stay in the facility.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 8 at New Life Open Bible Church, 11790 17th Ave., Chippewa Falls with Pastor Scott Emerson officiating. Spring interment will be in Lower Running Valley Cemetery in Colfax.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church
