David J. Kalow, 83, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Winter, WI, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Chippewa Manor.
He was born November 2, 1929 in Chippewa Falls to Sylvia (Zinsli) and Herbert Kalow. David graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1948 and the Minnesota School of Business. His successful life had him selling Gillette tires and retiring from Dewey Cement, LaFarge Corp.
David married Patricia Jahn, to which a daughter, Linda, was born. The couple later divorced.
He later married Margaret "Muggsy" Hanson Pasely.
David's retirement years were spent in Winter, WI. After he and Muggsy married, they lived in Winter during the fishing and hunting seasons and spent part of the winter in Boise, Idaho with Muggsy's children, Tom, Jim and Kristi Tweeten.
In recent years, David began carving and painting fish and musky baits. Many of these were sold in several bait and sporting goods stores.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Chippewa Falls; daughter, Linda (Jason Wilson); grandchildren, Roman, Ethan and Juneau, all of Roseville, MN; sisters, Sylvia "Kay" (H. Robert) Hanson of Bloomer, Barbara Ellingstad of St. Paul, MN; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Bill and Annette Rubenzer of Chippewa Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 11 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain at the Chippewa Manor, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials in David's honor may be designated to Irvine Park, 30 W. Central St., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
AFTERSERVICE
A memorial service for David J. Kalow, 83, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain at the Chippewa Manor officiated and music was provided by Judy Brist and Doug Parker.
Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
