He was born January 27, 1926 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Edith (West) and Merrill Larson, the middle of five sons. After graduation from high school in Fort Dodge, David served in the U.S. Army during WW II as an Anti-Tank Gunner. Following his time served in the army he returned to Fort Dodge where he was employed at the Boston Clothing Store.
David married Justine J. Webster on May 19, 1951 in Fort Dodge. They resided there for four years, moving to Chippewa Falls in 1955, where he was employed at the Boston Men's store and his wife managed The Three Sister's Store in Chippewa Falls. David was then employed at Montgomery Wards as a display manager, traveling throughout 19 states doing retail set-up which he really enjoyed. He resigned from his position due to his wife's ill health. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1978. During his retirement he bartended at Four Corners and State Street Tavern.
David married Bernadine Boos Goettl on January 16, 1982 at Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel in Eau Claire. Through their years together they enjoyed traveling. They also enjoyed dancing to Old Time Music. David was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan and cheered on the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid cribbage player getting in many tournaments and enjoyed a game of Sheepshead. Often he would listen to music of some of his favorite artists, including Mantovani, Henry Mancini and Roger Williams. He read extensively and told interesting stories of his past. David enjoyed attending his grandchildren's music performances and took pride in all of their athletic accomplishments.
Survivors include: his wife, Bernadine; three step-children, Walter "Wally" Goettl of Stillwater, Minn.; Debra (Gary) West, Yvonne (Jim) Custer all of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren, Tessa Goettl and Seth Goettl both of St. Paul, Minn., Kelly Custer of Bloomer, Jackie Custer, Jordan West and Logan West all of Chippewa Falls; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Custer, Laken and Tavyn Jones; two brothers, Frederick Larson and Don (Mary) Larson all of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Larson of Colorado and Avis Larson of Washington; special friends, Faye Reiter and Patrick Gangl and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Justine; two brothers, Jack and Richard Larson a step-daughter, Darlene Goettl and two sisters-in-law, Delores Larson and Helen Larson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Chaplain Nate Oldenkamp of Wissota Health officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m., Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Afterservice
A funeral service for David A. Larson, 85, of Chippewa Falls was held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls. Chaplain Nate Oldenkamp of Wissota Health officiated and music was provided by organist, Judy Brist and vocalist, Jeff Sommerfeld. David's grandsons, Jordan and Logan West shared a poem and a scripture reading.
Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls and casket bearers were: Logan, Jordan and Gary West, Kelly and Jackie Custer, Tessa and Seth Goettl.
Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Alec Bohan bugled taps.
