David C. Peterson, 54, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly at home due to complications from a recent fall and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 25, 2013.
He was born November 13, 1958 in Chippewa Falls to Doris Hetke (Barquist) and George Peterson. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1977. Dave proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1977, until being honorably discharged in 1980. He then joined the Army Reserves. He graduated with honors from District 1 Technical Institute (CVTC), receiving a degree in Electronics Technology in 1982.
Dave married Kathy Engel on June 14, 1986 at Bateman Lutheran Church and embraced and loved her three boys as his own. He was currently employed as a Manufacturing Engineer at Cray Inc.
Dave enjoyed tinkering on projects, electronics, amateur radio (N9YJG), computers, metal detecting, motorcycles, and camping with family. Above all, he loved being with his grandchildren and pets. His wife was his best friend and they traveled many miles together.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kathy; his father, George Peterson of Cadott; mother, Doris Hetke of Cadott; sons, Rob (Amy) Schick of Plainfield, IL, Dan (Linda) Schick of New Auburn, Paul (Kari) Schick of Chippewa Falls; brothers, Nels (Tabitha) Peterson, Roger Gavin, all of Cadott; grandchildren, Carter, Hayleigh, Kyle, Katelyn, Tyler and Hayden Schick; father-in-law, Gene Engel of Chippewa Falls, sister-in-law, Pamela Arneson of West Salem; brothers-in-law, Randy (Delores) Engel of Chippewa Falls, Jeff Engel of Jim Falls, David Engel of Chippewa Falls; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Beverly Engel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 29 at Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls with Rev. Mark Homp officiating.Interment with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be at Countryside Union Cemetery, town of Goetz.
Visitation will be from 4 -7 p.m., Sunday, July 28 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
