Dean Payne

Dean A. Payne, 84, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

Dean was born to Asa and Alice (Rasmussen) Payne on February 22, 1933, in Oconto, WI. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School with the class of 1951. Dean served his country with the US Navy during the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Yorktown and the USS Norton Sound. In 1961, he graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. Dean married Marilyn Schilling on June 27, 1964, in Burbank, CA. He owned and operated A.A. Payne and Son, Inc., a plumbing and heating company in Chippewa Falls, until his retirement in 1988.

Dean loved fishing, hunting, boating on Lake Wissota, playing hockey, and participating in many civic organizations. He was a loving and humorous husband, father, and grandfather that will be missed by all who knew him.

Dean is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Chippewa Falls; daughters, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Ware of Naperville, IL, and Deanna (Chad) Petterson of Hastings, MN; granddaughters, Emily, Alison, and Olivia Ware; and brother, Thomas (Donalee) Payne of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Dean’s request, the family will be having a private service at a later date.
