Della Mae Young, 84, of Chippewa Falls, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at home.

She was born May 13, 1929 in Viroqua, WI to Mathilda (Zogg) and Richard Klahn. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1947.

Della married Eugene Young on July 21, 1951 on the family farm in Viroqua. While Gene was serving in the US Navy, they resided in Norfolk, VA, where four of their children were born, then in Crane, IN where one child was born and then in Newport, RI where two children were born. They moved back to WI in 1965 and have resided in Chippewa Falls since that time.

Della was a stay-at-home mom. She was involved in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula (Todd LaBreck) Young, Chippewa Falls, Cyndi Young of Eau Claire, Lori Brown of Chippewa Falls; four sons, Dr. James (Dr. Carol Marchel) Young of Deep Gap, NC, Michael (Sally) Young of Arbor Vitae, WI, Steven (Nancy) Young of Marshfield, Brian Young of Wisconsin Rapids; three granddaughters, Emily (Jesse) Blodgett of Chippewa Falls, Dorie (Adam) Klassen of Bellingham, WA, Claire (Zach) Elbert of Chippewa Falls; a step-great-granddaughter, Ali Blodgett; a brother, Carl (Lucille) Klahn of Stoddard, WI; a sister-in-law, Nancy Klahn of Reedsburg, WI; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene on September 8, 1994; two sisters, Hilda Klahn, Ruth Lawton; two brothers Leonard and Alvin Klahn; two sisters-in-law, Cleo Klahn and Helen Young; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Ben Lawton and Robert Young.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 26 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the county health nurses and aides for all their help and to Sue and Deb for all you did for Della. Also a special thanks to Dr. Gering and the staff at Family Health Associates for their kindness and compassion shown to Della during her visits.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral for Della Mae Young, 84, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 26 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. William Plautz officiated and music was provided by organist, Barb Sandford and soloist, Peter Lea. Spring interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
