Diane R. Zschokke, 75, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born August 30, 1937 in St. Paul, MN to Sophia (Dinzio) and Benjamin Husnick. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from the Mechanic Arts Beauty School.
While working as a waitress at a restaurant in St. Paul, Diane met the man that would become her husband. Diane married Lawrence Zschokke on March 3, 1956 at St. Pascal's Church in St. Paul.
Before raising her family, Diane worked as a secretary for the Minnesota Highway Dept. In 1964, the growing family moved to Chippewa Falls, where they lived until moving to Grantsburg in 1978 to purchase a restaurant. Diane and Lawrence owned and operated The Rainbow Restaurant for many years until their retirement. They moved back to Chippewa Falls in 2010 to be near family.
She was a member of St. Charles Parish in Chippewa Falls.
Diane always had a great love for the outdoors. In her earlier years, she enjoyed waterskiing, golf, tennis, ice skating and spending time on the beach. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making meals for her family.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence of Chippewa Falls; six daughters, Candy (Kevin) Geissler of Chippewa Falls, Susan (Steven) Brenizer of Grantsburg, Tammy (Chris) Dolen of Eau Claire, Kim (Tom) Johnson of St. Croix Falls, Kelly (Jim) Tanner of Madison, Ohio, Brandy (John) Conaway of Jefferson, Ohio; three sons, David (Sue) Zschokke of Huffman, TX, Doug (Mya) Zschokke of Grantsburg, Terry Zschokke of St. Croix Falls; a sister, Nancy Scheele of Forest Lake, MN; two brothers, Jerry (Lois) Husnick of Pine City, MN, Joe (Debbie) Husnick of Maplewood, MN; 18 grandchildren, Aimee (Marshall Norseng) Geissler, Sara (Matt) Boughton, Jamie Geissler, Aaron, Jeremiah and Nichole Brenizer, Kaci, Alexandra and Billy Dolen, Jordan and Jake Johnson, Kira and Kenna Tanner, Olivia Conaway, Amber and Cody Zschokke, Corey and Brandon Fossum; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ronnie and Benny Husnick.
A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls with Fr. Ed Shuttleworth, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
AFTERSERVICE
A memorial Mass for Diane R. Zschokke was held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. The Fr. Robert Letona officiated with music provided by the St. Charles Funeral Choir; soloist, Amanda Tanzer and organist, Jerry Boorsma. Readers during the service were son-in-law, Chris Dolen and granddaughter, Sara Boughton. Diane's granddaughters, Amy Geissler, Sara Boughton and Jamie Giessler served as giftbearers.
Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
