Donald M. "Donny" Atkinson, 56, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 18, 1957 in Chippewa Falls to Gloria J. (Peterson) and Donald F. Atkinson. He attended Chippewa Falls High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for over 16 years.

Donny married Elaine Moucha on April 1, 1982 in Chippewa Falls. He was employed at Andersen Windows for the past 14 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, "just one more cast" was a term he used frequently, especially when it was getting dark or a storm was coming. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, and backyard get-togethers around a campfire. Watching Nascar, golfing and cheering on the Green Bay Packers were other favorite past times. He was a member of the Chippewa Falls Moose Lodge #246. Donny loved his family and friends more than anything and time spent with them were precious to him.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Elaine; two daughters, Amanda (Shannon Belding) DeVall of Chippewa Falls, Amy Crown of Roy, Utah; six sisters, Mary (Michael) Schneider of Arkansaw, Barbara (William) Rogers, Judi Roy all of Cape Coral Florida, Rita (James) Hurt of Tilden, Debra Hughes of Gilman, and Rhonda (Barry) Fisher of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Jordan, Paris, Austin and Audrey; life-long friend, Billy Anderson of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Michael Schneider and a niece, Michelle Moore in infancy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Greg Sima officiating. Military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be held at church following the service.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. A service conducted by the Moose Lodge will be held at 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Donald M. "Donny" Atkinson, 56, of the village of Lake Hallie was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Greg Sima officiated and several family members and friends shared personal reflections. Casket bearers were Billy Anderson, David Hughes, Ryan Swan, Barry Fisher, Shannon Belding and Sean Gethers. Honorary casket bearers were Jordan Atkinson-DeVall, Jamie and Steven Hughes. Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Frankie Rineck bugled Taps.

Friday evening members of the Moose Lodge; Tom Schultz, Prelate, Scot Smith, Governor, Steve Dachel, Junior Governor and Gary L. Jacobson, Past Governor conducted a service honoring Donny at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel.
