Donald Werner

Donald E. Werner, 77, of 658 Maple St., Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

He was born October 11, 1933 in Chippewa Falls to Mary (Patterson) and John P. Werner. He graduated from McDonell High School in 1952.

Don married Joan Vogler on April 27, 1957 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.

He worked at Uniroyal in Eau Claire from l952-l960. He then attended Barber School graduating in 1965 and then worked in Rice Lake and Pepin for ten years. Don then went back to work at Uniroyal until retiring in 1992, when the company closed.

Don was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls.

Survivors include: his wife, Joan; three daughters, Carol (Joel) Berg, Sue Erickson, all of Chippewa Falls, Pam Smith of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Mary Ann "Punky" Close of Geneva, Ill.; a brother, Larry "Butch" (Joan) Werner of Chippewa Falls; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Curt Close.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 6 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Rick Hoyme officiating. Military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church

Afterservice

A memorial service for Donald E. Werner, 77 of Chippewa Falls was held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 6 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Rick Hoyme officiated and music was provided by organist, Christine Hitt and vocalist, Pam Moran.

Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Thomas Eder, Jr. bugled taps. Burial will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
