Donna J. Syverson, 79, of Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton, went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

She was born May 31, 1932 in Manhattan, Kansas to William and Ella (McGonigle) Burgin. She attended school in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950. She then attended McPherson College.

Donna worked at First National Bank of Hutchinson, Kansas and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she worked at First National Bank. On nights and weekends she was cashier and floor manager for Penkus Roller Rink where she met her husband, James D. Syverson, who was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado.

Donna and James were married on May 20, 1956 in Hutchinson, Kansas at the Church of the Brethren. After their marriage, they moved to Wisconsin. Following a short time of farming they resided in Chippewa Falls where Donna took a job at Fabritech and Ideal Chevrolet.

Survivors include: her husband of 55 years, James; daughter, Denise (Paul) Roach of Colfax; three grandchildren, Jesse, Kara and Deanna; three sisters, Eva (Ron) Mott, Myrtle (Eldon) Bookless, Ruth Redd all of Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: a son, LaVerne; her parents and two sisters, Esther Marie and Thelma Jo.

Donna was active as a homemaker, she loved 4-H and teaching children. Since she was a child, she had a love for music that continued throughout her life. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and with the Messiah Group who travelled to other cities and churches, sharing their voices with others. She also loved art, ceramics, painting, rug hooking, furniture renovation, tailoring, sewing and knitting hats for the needy. As the daughter of a nurseryman, Donna enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed that her many flowers would often draw hummingbirds. Most of all Donna was devoted to the Lord and active in her church.

A celebration of Donna's life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Cornerstone Christian Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Justin Carter officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A celebration of the life of Donna J. Syverson, 79, of Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Cornerstone Christian Church, Eau Claire. Pastor Justin Carter officiated and music was provided by organist, Maria Stone and vocalist, Brenda Holman. Interment will be at a later date in Big Elk Creek Cemetery, town of Wheaton, Chippewa County.
