Donna M. Wheeler, 85, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Friday January 23, 2015 at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.

She was born September 8, 1929 in West Lima. She was raised in Bloomer and graduated from Bloomer High School.

Donna married Leigh Wheeler on October 20, 1951 in Bloomer.

Donna was a talented seamstress. She made her children's clothing with her own patterns. She embroidered many sets of dish towels and blocks for baby quilts. She was active in the Hallie United Methodist Church sewing club, where she also taught Sunday school, always trying to make a difference in the lives of children.

Following Leigh's stroke, Donna helped her husband speak again. With Leigh's early retirement, they enjoyed fishing together. Donna grew up fishing and loved kitty cats too. She enjoyed being outdoors, sitting in the warm sun, whether it was waiting for her children to get off the bus, watching Leigh feed the deer in the yard, or sitting in the sun at the dining room table. When the weather wasn't favorable outside, she'd sit inside with her feet propped near the warm stove. Her children and grandchildren will never forget her delicious homemade pies, made from the berries she picked herself. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Melanie Popple of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Mark (Deb) Wheeler of Oakdale, Minnesota, Brian (Sue) Wheeler of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Scott (Sabine) Wheeler, Justin and Michael Wheeler, Carl and Megan Popple; a great-grandson, Brian Wheeler; sisters-in-law, Gloria Hempelman of Eau Claire, Donna Burt of Dallas, Texas, Bea Wheeler of Mesa, AZ; a brother-in-law, Ken (Marion) Wheeler of Chippewa Falls; nieces and nephews.
