Doris A. Schoch, 90, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Wissota Health Center under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born Doris Ann Naus, June 22, 1924 to Ferdinand and Cecilia (Wagnar) Naus in Boyd. Doris grew up on the family farm in the town of Edson and attended the School of Sacred Heart and Liberty Grade School. After completing eighth grade, she left school to work on the farm.
Doris married William J. Schoch on October 2, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson. They were married 32 years when Bill passed away in July 1980.
Doris could be described as self-sacrificing, hard-working and uncomplaining as she met life's challenges. In addition to raising ten children, she worked outside the home at a number of local businesses, finally retiring from a position at the Chippewa Manor Retirement Home.
Doris loved to watch all kinds of sports. She enjoyed fishing and card playing (shmear and sheepshead). She had a gentle, quiet demeanor unless she was watching sports. You could always hear her in a crowd cheering on the Packers, Badgers or Brewers. She was especially fond of and loud while watching her sons and grandchildren playing ball.
She is survived by her ten children, Sharon (Thomas) Holm, Michael (Dana), Dennis (Linda), James (Roxanne), Patricia, Jean (Terry) Licht, Suzanne (Alex) Redenius, Sandra Olson, Anthony (Lisa) and William; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, LaVonne (Don) Dickman of Alamagordo, New Mexico, Mary (Duane) Chirhart of Boyd; sister-in-law, Donna Schoch of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; sister, Bernice Donner; two brothers, Alfred and Robert Naus and an infant grandchild, Jordan Licht.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. To conclude the visitation Friday evening, the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. led by Doris' sister, Mary Chirhart.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Doris' memory to the Notre Dame Children's Fund.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral mass Doris A. Schoch, 90, of Chippewa Falls, was held on Saturday, April 18 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce officiated the service; music was provided by Judy Brist and violinist and great-grandson, Tyler Schoch; readers were great-grandchildren, Lukas Engel and Shelby Seibel; giftbearers were great-grandchildren, Derek Seibel and Hannah Engel; communion servers were son-in-law, Terry Licht and sister, Mary Chirhart.
During the visitation Friday evening,the rosary was recited led by Doris' sister, Mary Chirhart.
Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls and casket bearers were grandsons, Nathan Schoch, Solomon Schoch, Ben Schoch, Matt Schoch, Alex Redenius, Jeremy Redenius, Terry Licht, Marcus Schoch, Jon Schoch, and Lance Schoch; honorary casket bearers were granddaughters, Jennifer Engel, Nicole Bresina, Rachel Volz, Heidi White, Heather Seibel, Erica Schoch, Alison Zwiefelhofer, Briana Calkins, Elizabeth Edinger, Jessica Calkins, Marga Schoch, Clare Schoch, Christiana Schoch, and Sarah Schoch.
