Dorothy Post was welcomed to heaven on April 4th, 2023, at the age of 97, with her family by her side.
She was born on January 1, 1926, in San Diego, CA. Dorothy was united in marriage to LeRoy Post in 1943. In 1946, she moved to Chippewa Falls where she resided for the remainder of her years. She had 6 children and was filled with joy watching her family grow over the years with the addition of each grandchild and great-grandchild: keeping a tally of each new member. She was a strong and courageous woman after losing her husband at a young age and working to continue to raise her family. She spent many years working at the Rutledge Home.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her kind heart, genuine honesty, infectious laugh, and her lifelong motto to "go with the flow". She enjoyed playing cards, water exercise at the Y, going out to breakfast and hosting her friends for coffee club. Dorothy's loved ones will think of her every time they drive through Irvine Park, complete a puzzle, eat a drumstick ice cream treat, or watch a Shirley Temple or Betty Boop movie. She also enjoyed bus trips and traveling with family and friends, the scenery at Erickson Park, and sitting with her family and friends in the gazebo at the WI Veterans Home. Gary’s daily visits always brought a smile to her face.
She will be dearly missed by her 6 children, Dusty (Nancy) Post of Chippewa Falls, Linda (Fred) Fierke of Woodbury, MN., Bill (Sue) Post of Mattawan, MI., Beverly (Bob) Normand of Chippewa Falls, Julie (Bill) Loiselle of Chippewa Falls, and Gary (Carleen) Post of Chippewa Falls; as well as her grandchildren, Dan Post, Deanne Eslinger, Derek Post, Wendi Graves, Tony Schwartz, Amy Gannon, Chad Post, Nick Post, Michelle Schrieber, Kevin Normand, Sara Hasart, Brittany Normand, Megan Loiselle-Forti, Chelsea Schreiber, and Alyssa Loiselle- Kjellstrand; 29 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; her grandchild, Jessica Loiselle; and great grandchild Roman Forti.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls for the care they provided her for many years and to St. Croix Hospice for the care and comfort they provided.
The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Monday, April 10th, at Faith Lutheran Church, 733 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Daniel Wonderly will be officiating. The interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family that will be donated to a charity dear to Dorothy's heart.
