Douglas W. Melland, 81, of Jim Falls, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.
He was born April 18, 1933 in Eau Claire to Blanche (Stokes) and Theodore Melland Sr.
On May 26, 1976, he married Debra Schneider. They resided in Jim Falls, and Douglas worked at the Foundry for most of his life, retiring from there in 1990.
Douglas was a true family man. His family meant the world to him. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers at their cabin in Wascott; he cherished time with his grandkids camping up north; and was very close to his numerous nieces and nephews. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Deb; four daughters, Lynn Anasogak, Joni Richards, Lisa (Dan) Paulson, Wendy (Bruce) Engelsby; three sons, Douglas Melland Jr., Scott (Marcy) Schneider, Jamey (Joanie) Melland; two brothers, Richard "Norm" Melland, Ted (Donna) Melland; grandchildren, Tyrone, Jason, Kyle, Christopher, Brittni, Robert, Kailee, Auchee, Cache, Emily, Katlyn, Ayla, Austin, Justin, Jamey Jr.; great-grandchildren, Owen and Wyatt; and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kenneth and Dwayne Melland; sisters, Carol, June and Phoebe; brothers, Emil, Ivan, Robert, Gerald, LaVerne; and a granddaughter, Trisha Wade.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, Chippewa Manor officiating. Interment will be Friday morning at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in the town of Washington, Eau Claire County.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
