Dwight Strong

Dwight T. Strong, 63, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa County, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

He was born April 12, 1947 in Austin, Minnesota to Aura J. (Houlder) and Raymond R. Strong. Shortly after his birth and upon the death of his father, Dwight's family moved to Rice Lake where he grew up and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1965.

After completing two years of college at UW-Stout, Dwight joined the U.S. Navy in July, 1966 and served aboard two warships attached to the western Pacific fleet, until his honorable separation in October, 1970.

On June 1, 1968, Dwight married Mary L. Johnson in Milaca, Minnesota. They were later divorced. After his naval service, Dwight returned to UW-Stout, graduating in 1973 with two Bachelor of Science degrees: Industrial Education with a math minor and Technical Education; each with a concentration in electronics.
