Earl M. Proud, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Rutledge Home Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls under the care of Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.
He was born January 28, 1926 in Chippewa Falls to Alice (Anderson) and Woodard Proud.
Earl married Arlene Crist on November 28, 1947. They resided in Chippewa Falls where Earl owned and operated Proud Excavating. In 1977, he and Arlene moved to Gordon, WI where they owned and operated the Halfway House Bar. Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In 2013 he moved back to Chippewa Falls where he was a resident at Home Suite Home in Tilden, and later moving to the Rutledge Home when he needed more care. Earl truly enjoyed his time spent at both assisted living homes, and made many friends while there.
Survivors include his son, Bill (Nettie) Proud of Chippewa Falls; a grandson, Brian (Cary) Proud of Chippewa Falls; two great-grandsons, Wyatt Proud and Logan Goettl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Arlene on May 27, 2010.
Earls family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Home Suite Home, the Rutledge Home and to Mayo Clinic Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Earl.
A private service will be held with burial in Gordon.
