Earle D. Cork, 89, of the Village of Lake Hallie, Chippewa Falls, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2012.

He was born November 9, 1922 in Phillips to Elizabeth (Link) and Matthew Cork.

Earle proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the LST during WWII from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

He married Dorothy Fox on June 21, 1948. Because Earle worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, they lived in Brill, Birchwood, Jim Falls and finally settled in Eau Claire. Earle retired from the railroad as a telegrapher in 1980. Dorothy preceded him in death on February 18, 1992.

Earle married Viola Shackleton Hanson in August, 1997. The couple had resided in Hallie since that time. Earle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in his garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Earle had a strong faith and loved the Lord wholeheartedly. He was a faithful member of New Life Open Bible Church in Chippewa Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Viola; a son, Don (Mary) Cork of Eau Claire; a sister, Amelia Salek of Phillips; a brother, Raymond (Laurel) Cork of Janesville; two grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Cork of Osseo, Heather (Craig Sieracki) Cork of Eau Claire; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Nathaniel Cork, and Jemma Sieracki-Cork; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a brother, Glendon Cork; and brother-in-law, John Salek.

Acelebration of Earl's lifewill be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 7 at New Life Open Bible Church, 11790 17th Ave., Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Scott Emerson officiating. Burial with military honors by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Earle's honor are appreciated and may be designated to the Gideons.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Earle D. Cork, 89, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at New Life Open Bible Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Scott Emerson officiated and music was provided by organist, Cathy Emerson and vocalist, Stan Shackleton. Several people shared person reflections.

Interment with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council was in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie and Thomas Eder Jr., bugled "Taps.". Casket bearers were Jason Cork, Roger Belan, Don LaNou, John Salek and Ben Buchholtz.
