Edith A. (Mewhorter) Sisco, 83, of Eau Claire, died August 11, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born November 13, 1928 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire to DeLila (Shilts) and Charles Mathews. She grew up in Eau Claire and attended school there. She was proud that two of her great-grandchildren also attended Longfellow Elementary.

Edith worked at various places: Kresge and Woolworth Stores in Eau Claire; Woolworth's in Chippewa Falls; as a doctor's assistant in Eau Claire; and as a dispatcher at Indianhead Trucking.

In 1973, she married Robert Sisco at Zion United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. The couple combined their families and Edith loved Robert's children and grandchildren as her own.

Edith was a member of Valleybrook Church in Eau Claire. Her favorite pastimes were embroidery, painting ceramics, golf and bowling. She and Robert were snowbirds and enjoyed many winters in Texas. She especially loved attending her great-grandchildren's ball games and sporting events. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Eau Claire; sons, Kenneth (Becky) Mewhorter, Steve (Patty) Mewhorter; daughter, Kathie (Tom) White, all of Chippewa Falls; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; step-sons, Robert (Teresa) Sisco of Eleva, Mike (Karen) Sisco of Eau Claire; step-daughters, Colette (Dave) Sisco of Madison, Jan (Donn) Moe of Mondovi; nine step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest; daughter, Barbara Vance in 1987; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joanne Mathews; and two step-grandsons, Michael and Bennett Beschta.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with Pastor Doug Lebsack, of Valleybrook Church, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
