Edith L. Tiller, 86, of 18 W. Walnut St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family, while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

She was born January 10, 1924 in Stanley to Elsie (Smith) and Martin Marcellis.

Edith married Lloyd V. Tiller on October 21, 1942 and together had six children. She finished raising the youngest child after the death of her husband in 1974.

In 1981, at the age of 56, she took on the responsibility of raising three grandchildren, Stacy (Jamie) Lanners, Shannon L. Sockness and Terry B. Sockness Jr., due to the untimely death of her daughter Patricia.

Edith loved animals of all kinds and donated religiously to the Chippewa County Humane Association.

Survivors include her children, Virginia (Gerald) Ranta of Elk Mound, Diana (Don) Fox of Fall Creek, Dennis (Mary Kay) Tiller of Eau Claire, Mary Introwitz of Chippewa Falls, Elizabeth (Dean) Schmitt of Gilman; one sister, Beulah Johnson of Fall Creek; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; daughter, Patricia Sockness; granddaughter, Lynn Green; brothers, Norman Marcellis, Anton Marcellis, Clarence Marcellis and Martin Marcellis; sisters, Eleanor Kohls, Evelyn Hedrington, Susan Fetter and Marjorie Perret.

She will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.

Private family services will be held.
