Edna I. Borseth, 88, Chippewa Falls, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
She was born in Jump River on April 9, 1923 to Katherine (Federspiel) and Frank Skabroud. She was raised in Jump River, where she attended grade school and graduated from the eighth grade in 1937.
She worked in the family cheese factory and later drove the milk truck for the business.
Edna married Roy L. Borseth on April 6, 1945 in Ladysmith. They resided in Sheldon where they farmed. In 1956, they sold the farm and moved to Chippewa Falls where they owned and operated Midget Grocery Store until 1974. She was then employed at the Chippewa Manor as a Nurse's Aide, retiring at the age of 74. She moved to the Romeis Apts. in Chippewa Falls in 1997.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include: a daughter, Betty (George) Larson of Chippewa Falls; a son Roy (Cheryl) Borseth of Eau Claire; a brother, Norman (Marlene) Skabroud of Jump River; five grandchildren, Robert (Jean) Borseth, Tammy (Jeff) Pope, Sally Borseth, Jeff (Lona) Nyre, Julie (Tony Sbraggia) Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Dayton Nyre, Oscar Martinez, Alex Martinez; four step-great-grandchildren, Serena, Wayne, Alexis and Payton Popeand other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Roy on February 20, 1982; two sisters, Arlene Jiskra and Lorraine Mengel; a brother Victor Skabroud; sister-in-law, Karen Skabroud; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Borseth.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m, Thursday, April 5 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Edna's grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She babysat and cared for her grandson, Oscar for the first year of his life. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed fishing and playing card games and loved making lefsa and homemade noodles for her family. She will be dearly missed.
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for Edna I. Borseth, 88, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. William Plautz officiated and music was provided by Barbara Sandford. Personal reflections were given by Edna's son, Roy Borseth and grandson, Oscar Martinez. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were: Jeff Nyre, Robert Borseth, Doug Skabroud, Tammy Pope, Oscar, Alex and Julie Martinez.
